Conflict Theory in Sociology

This segment discusses conflict theory, one of the important theoretical perspectives in sociology. Conflict theory supposes that society is an arena made up of scarce resources in which groups compete to gain, maintain, and monopolize those resources.  Resources can be natural resources such as water, land, lumber, metals, crops, or fossil fuels – but more importantly – sociologists find – are resources like political power, social prestige, and wealth.
